Ever heard of Esperanto?
Esperanto is a constructed international auxiliary language. The name “Esperanto” comes from the pseudonym of L.L. Zamenhof, Doktoro Esperanto. It literally means “one who hopes”.
Zamenhof created the Esperanto language between the late 1870s and early 1880s. In his 1887 book, Uno Libro, he explained that his purpose of doing so is to create a language that is neutral to all countries and one that is easy to learn.
There is approximately 200 to 1,000 native speakers. Also a total of 10,000 to 20,000 Esperanto speakers.
Held in various countries, there is an annual Esperanto World Congress. While no countries have adopted Esperanto as their official language, there are schools that use it as the instruction language. One example is that of the International Academy of Sciences in San Marino.
It is also a UNESCO recognised language. On February 2012, Esperanto was added as a language in Google Translate.
Throughout the years, in order to make Esperanto a secondary official language to certain countries, there were many proposals and projects.
What your Esperanto translator needs to know
Esperanto does not belong to any language family. However, the vocabulary is generally from Romance and German languages and the phonology is greatly Slavic.
There are 23 consonants, 5 vowels and 2 semi vowels. The vowels form 6 dipthongs.
Word order is free -flowing. Except the article “the”, demonstratives and prepositions must come before the noun. At the same time, negatives and conjunctions must come before the phrase or clause.
